christmas family photos

We had quite the special Christmas this year as everyone from my extended family was home for the holidays – can’t remember the last time we were all together! As a surprise, my cousin Julie hired a photographer and arranged for all of us to meet at Sandy’s house for a big family photo. Let me tell you – it’s not easy getting 30+ people (including kids) in one room during the holidays but somehow we all made it!

Thanks again to Julie and Sandy for making Christmas this year a special one!

santa babies

Since my mom retired earlier this year, we weren’t able to take advantage of the free Santa photos at her company’s holiday party. We’ve been so busy since June arrived that I really thought we’d miss out on Santa this year. However, my brother Andy offered to take the kids to get their photos taken with Santa while I had a doctor’s appointment in Seattle one day. He had taken Drew to see the Santa last year as well so this year, we decided to make it an official tradition – Uncle Andy will take the kids to see Santa each year.

The Santa isn’t as good as the one from last year but we do love the set up at the University Village location.

No tears and a fist pump – I’ll take it!

peps: 2nd birthday party

We love getting together with our PEPS friends, especially when it involves pizza and cupcakes! For the kiddos’ 2nd birthday this year, we decided to rent out the Little Gym in Seattle. The kids had a blast and I think it’s safe to say that their favorite part was the  bouncy mat (not sure if that’s what it’s called). The parents had some fun too, especially the dads trying to show off their basketball skills with the toddler hoop.

Check out Drew’s face in the video – he sure did enjoy himself!

P.S. Since I’m always back dating my posts, I should note that this was the day before June arrived! I definitely did not think I was going to have a baby the next day. 🙂

drew touchdown!

We often have some type of sporting event on TV in the background at home (I know terrible). Drew’s not really one to sit and watch a full game or show on TV yet but he does enjoy watching a bit of a game and trying to mimic what the players are doing, especially if it’s baseball or football. He even has his own (weird) touchdown pose as evident in the video below. We love our little sports guy!

family photo session

A few weeks ago, we did a quick family photo session with Kristin Harris photography. I say quick because we had an hour with Kristin but probably used about 30-40 mins of it since Drew could only handle so many smiles for the camera.

We decided to do professional photos for a few reasons: 1) I totally failed and forgot to take Drew’s 18 month photos, 2) for my dad’s birthday earlier this year, we said we would pay for him, my mom and Drew to get photos together and 3) we rarely get family photos with the three (almost four) of us so thought it would be a good time to do so.

Although the session went fast, Kristin managed to capture some really great photos. Below is a slide show of some of the photos – my personal favs are the ones of Drew and Pearl (of course) and our attempt at some HGTV poses. 🙂

pianist in the making

For Drew’s first birthday, Rivers and Larry bought him a keyboard. I think they saw how much he enjoyed playing with the keyboard at my parents house, they thought he should have his very own. Lucky kid!

He seems to be really interested in musical instruments so perhaps he’ll be a musician someday.  Guess we’ll wait and find out but in the meantime, rock on, Drew!

Also, I captured this video prior to Drew getting his first haircut. Although it was nice to clean up his hair a bit, I do miss the long hair he had going on there.
