like mama, like son

Drew had another “perfect” check up at his eight week appointment. He was such a trooper getting his shots – the nurses were impressed with his ability to recover so quickly after getting them. He’s one tough cookie!

Before the pediatrician came in to see Drew, we had striped him down to his diaper and laid him on the exam table. He was all smiles and then positioned his arm in a fist by his face. I had to quickly snap a picture of this as it resembled a photo that my parents had taken of me around Drew’s age (see photo below). What can I say, we’re two peas in a pod!

two is the new one

Drew hit the two month mark back on January 21st so this post is just a tad bit late.

Our little man is growing like a weed – he’s doubled in weight and is gradually getting taller! We’re loving his chunky arms and legs but our favorite thing about Drew are those chubby cheeks! We’ve been trying not to squeeze them too much or we’ll have to deal with a situation like “deflate-gate”. 😉

Two month stats:
– Weight: 11 lbs 10 ounces
– Height: 22.75 inches

Highlights:
– Sleeps through most of the night with one middle of the night wake up
– Holds his head up
– Smiles for days
– Sticks his tongue out when daddy does
– Loves when Pearl licks his feet
– Wants to stand so badly and moves his legs as if he’s walking / running

mat leave in review

Going on maternity leave, I thought I would have all the time in the world to pick up new hobbies but boy was I wrong.

I’ve been keeping busy the last couple months – spending time with family, catching up with friends and most importantly, getting to know my little man. Even with all the free time, I still crave more hours with Drew. He’s growing up so quickly that I don’t want to miss a beat. I almost shed a tear packing away his newborn clothing a few weeks ago and we’re pretty close to transitioning out the 0-3 month clothing. 😦

In any case, I still have a little less than two months left of maternity leave and plan to spend it exactly how I have been. I’ve enjoyed seeing my parents and brother more, grabbing lunch with my best friend and cuddling the heck out of Drew.

Since we don’t have anyone around during the day to take our pictures, here are some selfies of Drew and I from the past nine weeks.

boy & sidekick

As many of you know, Pearl is a very hyperactive dog. She loves just about anyone and will greet you with open arms (literally) at the door. It is this characteristic that makes her a terrible guard dog but we love her just the same.

Although Pearl is great with kids (as seen with her friends Aiden, Grace, Stella, Addy, Carson and Lily), we weren’t sure how she would be around a new baby in the house. You can see in this post of her first encounter with Drew that she was a bit hesitant. However, she immediately got over that and has been such a good big sister to her baby brother. She loves to give him kisses, except when he’s crying – she hasn’t figured out how to handle that type of situation yet. 😉

Here’s a few pictures of what I’m referring to as the boy and sidekick series:

wait what?!?

Keith went back to work this week after taking a month off for paternity leave. Needless to say we miss him like crazy, especially Drew and Pearl.

We’ve been able to keep busy with lunch dates and trips to UVillage. It’s sad to think I’ll be going back to work in a couple months so I’m trying to enjoy the time I have left with my little man. And although we miss daddy, we’re thankful for all the quality time we were able to get together and count down the hours until we see him again. 🙂
