mini vacation: san francisco

Before going back to work, Keith and I decided to take Drew on a mini vacation to San Francisco. We wanted to take him on his first trip while he was still young but also wanted an excuse to visit our good friends Man Joe, Erin, Jane (Joe and Erin’s daughter), Ryan and Gaby. Although it was only a few days, it was nice to get away and see some familiar faces.

Drew did an excellent job on both plane rides! On the way there, our seat mate asked to hold him (she loved kids) and on the way back, the lady in front of us said she didn’t realize there was a baby traveling behind her. We were nervous about Drew’s nighttime sleep as he had just learned to roll over from his back that week but he did awesome – slept way better than when we were at home!

All in all, it was a great trip! Can’t wait to go back when Drew’s a little older so we can catch a baseball game and see Alcatraz.

mat leave in review

Going on maternity leave, I thought I would have all the time in the world to pick up new hobbies but boy was I wrong.

I’ve been keeping busy the last couple months – spending time with family, catching up with friends and most importantly, getting to know my little man. Even with all the free time, I still crave more hours with Drew. He’s growing up so quickly that I don’t want to miss a beat. I almost shed a tear packing away his newborn clothing a few weeks ago and we’re pretty close to transitioning out the 0-3 month clothing. 😦

In any case, I still have a little less than two months left of maternity leave and plan to spend it exactly how I have been. I’ve enjoyed seeing my parents and brother more, grabbing lunch with my best friend and cuddling the heck out of Drew.

Since we don’t have anyone around during the day to take our pictures, here are some selfies of Drew and I from the past nine weeks.

tis the season

With Drew only a few weeks old, we decided to host Christmas at our house. It was really nice not having to travel during the holidays for once.

Larry, Rivers and Catherine made their way to Seattle to spend the holidays with us and most importantly, meet Drew for the first time. We spent Christmas Eve at my Aunt Thao’s house and then Christmas day at our house.

I think everyone enjoyed the time together (as seen in the slideshow) and we look forward to Uncle Tom, Uncle Bill and Aunt Helena joining us next year!

my baby bump

Keith, Pearl and I had a great time during our maternity photo session. We had to break the session up into two days as the first day was crummy outside and got dark fast which didn’t help with lighting. The photos were taken when I was 37 and 38 weeks pregnant. It’s crazy how quickly the baby bump grew within a week!

double date with the rickerts

It’s been a while since we’ve gone on a double date with The Rickerts so this past Friday, we hit up happy hour at Palominos and the movie theaters to see Gone Girl. We always have so much fun with these two – it’s just too bad I had to stick with water. Actually, I got a virgin mango mojito at happy hour but it was WAY too sweet to drink.

Before the movie, we had a few minutes to kill so in Kerry and Jo fashion, we decided we should take some pictures. The husbands made fun of us for doing this but we still got some good ones in, especially the ones with the Dumb and Dumber cut out.
